John Mayer held a benefit concert to aid Montana firefighters on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

That in itself would make for one heck of story, but this story is about, oh, so VERY MUCH MORE.

John MayerSINGING(!!) – After SO long. The of it thought. Makes me cry.

VERY HAPPY TEARS!!

From what I have heard, the show started out with performances by Zac Brown, Clay Cook, David Ryan Harris and Sean Hurley. John Mayer

*CUE THE SOUND OF HEAVENLY ANGELS SINGING*…

… then entered and joined the fun *giddy squeeees of delight* John and the boys played several Zac Brown Band Songs John came out and played about four ZBB songs.

I’m told it was AMAZING!

John Mayer started his set off with performing “Queen Of California (a very popular song off his latest album “Born And Raised.” Clay Cook and David Ryan Harriss (DRH) handled the vocals.

THEN THERE WAS THIS.

During John Mayer’s set John announced to the crowd that a few weeks ago he had received word from his doctor that his vocal cord granuloma HAS HEALED.

I WILL PAUSE NOW TO GIVE YOU TIME TO SMILE, CRY, SKIP, AND/OR DANCE AROUND YOUR ROOMS WITH HAPPINESS AND GLEE BEFORE I PROCEED.

John clarified this statement by adding that he will still be a few more months before he is 100% back in the game.

THEN. JOHN MAYER. SANG.

John Mayer sang a solo acoustic version of “Speak For Me.”

(“Speak For Me” is one of the most poignant songs on John Mayer’s latest album “Born And Raised.)

THEN. JOHN MAYER. SANG.

JOHN MAYER SANG A SOLO ACOUSTIC VERSION OF “SPEAK FOR ME.”

(Yes. I do realize I said that twice.)

There are so many more wonderful things for me to write, but I am crying as I type.  Once again, I was not at the concert and I am piecing together tidbits of information from various different sources.

I have heard that John’s voice was as he said, not yet quite the same as it was before. I have also heard that “not quite the sameness” managed to make the song sound even more beautiful.

After John Mayer sang “Speak For Me,” Clay Cook joined John on stage to perform John’s songs “Whiskey Whiskey Whiskey” and “Who Says. Then the band (minus Zac?) came out to play with them.

The set list included John Mayer’s song “Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey” off John’s latest album “Born And Raised” along with the songs “Who Says” and “Crossroads” off John Mayer’s previous album “Battle Studies.”

John Mayer then played “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room” (off John’s album “Continuum”) with the marvelously talented David Ryan Harris on vocals.

AND THEN.

JOHN MAYER. SANG.

This time John sang “If I Ever Get Around To Living,” another emotionally poignant song from John Mayer’s latest album “Born And Raised.”

JOHN MAYER. SANG.

John Mayer sang. Again.

John Mayer singing “‘If I Ever Get Around To Living” did not signal the end of the show.

But the words.

JOHN MAYER. SANG.

Signal the end of this post.
