Chuck Leavell Speaks Out To John Mayer And His Fans About The Cancellation Of Their Upcoming Tour

The below was originally posted on Chuck Leavell’s BLOG:

It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of John Mayer’s tour due to his granuloma, a growth in between his vocal chords, coming back after his surgery to remove it. Many of you have followed his situation, and we had all hoped and believed that he had overcome it. We had started rehearsals in Los Angeles for the tour on March 4, and for the first two days John sounded fantastic…better than ever. But by the 3rd day we could tell he began to struggle a bit with his voice. On the 4th day he knew something was wrong and went to see his throat Doctor. The news was not good…the granuloma had returned, and there was no option but to stop everything and cancel the tour. John’s statement on the link below says it all.

For me and for all of the other guys in the band, staff and crew, we feel so badly for John as we know how much he was looking forward to this tour and playing with us. Believe me, the feeling was mutual all the way around. John is an amazing artist and a wonderful person. I know he will eventually recover from this, but no doubt it will take a significant amount of time. How long, no one knows.

I want to also say what a privilege and honor it was to play on his new CD, “Born and Raised”. I think it is a beautiful piece of work, and I know all his fans will agree. John, we all send our love to you…we know you will recover and will continue to give us the beautiful music that comes from your heart and soul, and your amazing talent. I look forward to playing with you again when you are ready, my friend.
