Dur­ing a dis­cus­sion about his upcom­ing album ‘Duets2,’ which is set to drop on Sep­tem­ber 20th, Tony Ben­nett described John Mayer as “very tal­ented” and a “great blues singer.”

Now. While I would have prob­a­bly gone with some­thing slightly more on tar­get such as:  “most tal­ented gui­tar player to ever strum a chord” or “most ulti­mate, sexy voiced blues singer that ever lived”    …

Com­ing from the leg­end that is Tony Ben­nett that is very high praise indeed.

On the album, John and Tony sing the clas­sic song ‘One For My Baby (And One More For the Road).’

John will also be per­form­ing live at Sta­ples Cen­ter on Sep­tem­ber 24 as part of Tony Bennett’s Ben­e­fit To End Hunger / Birth­day Bash.

Unfor­tu­nately, though I’ve seen snip­pets of Tony singing with Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey posted online, so far I am still sadly long­ing for a Tony+John sneak peak.
